Roderick White - Elsewhere

This short story was found in McSweeney's #20.

1."This is a fountain," she tells me. "Do you know why fountains have pennies?"
"Because people are desperate," I hear myself say.
"No." She turns around to smile at me. "It's because people are cheap."

2.Like a leading man he winks.

3.I run like i ran the bases as a child.

4.Her hair rests across her breasts like Audrey Hepburn's hands.
