Chris Adrian - A Child's Book of Sickness and Death

We have already featured some great one-liners from Chris's The Stepfather, and this short story provides even more. The dude is phenomenal.
.I want to say, people like you wear me out, honey. If you don't go away soon I know my heart will stop beating from weariness, but i let her go on.

,My whole lower arm is wrapped in a white mesh glove that almost looks like lace, and would have been cool back in 1983, when i was negative two.

....a little beard, the sort you scrawl on a face, along with devil horns, for purposes of denigration.

.Your ignorance is deadly, your ignorance can kill.

.The nicest rooms are those that were once occupied by a privileged child with a fatal syndrome.

.How can he laugh so loud when tomorrow he'll go back to surgery again to have his face artfully broken by the clever hands of well-intentioned sadists?

.And the only thing that gives him any relief is licking a moving tyre - a very difficult thing to do.

.Or they may offer to teach how the homeless are to be shunned and not fellated.
